The JH Lady Lions traveled to Jasper on Tuesday night for a pair of battles with the Lady Wildcats. The 7th grade entered the matchup looking to bounce back from two tough losses on Saturday—and they delivered a gritty, late-game comeback to get back in the win column. 7th Grade: Loogootee 18, Jasper 15 The Lady Lions opened strong, taking a 5–2 lead and heading into halftime up 11–5 behind disciplined defense. Out of the break, Loogootee struggled to find a rhythm, scoring just one point in the third quarter as Jasper closed the gap to 12–11. Both teams endured scoring droughts in the fourth before Jasper struck first, grabbing a 13–12 lead with three minutes left. An and-1 extended the Wildcats’ advantage to 15–12 with 1:24 remaining—their largest lead of the night. Loogootee answered with composure and pressure. With one minute remaining, Abby Meyer drove for a key basket to cut the deficit to one. The Lady Lions immediately set up in a full-court press, forcing a 5-second violation, which set up a huge go-ahead bucket from Elin Wade to make it 16–15. Seconds later, Ayla Hawkins intercepted an inbound pass and scored, pushing the lead to 18–15 and sealing the comeback win. Loogootee moves to 4–2 on the season and returns to action Saturday morning at Jack Butcher Arena against Bloomfield at 10 AM. ⸻ 8th Grade: Loogootee 42, Jasper 19 The 8th grade Lady Lions found themselves tied 4–4 after the opening quarter, but a dominant second frame, powered by a scoring burst from Sydnee Salmon and Taryn Brown, gave Loogootee a 19–8 halftime lead. From that point on, the Lady Lions controlled the game on both ends. Salmon led all scorers with 11 points, while Brown added 10, continuing their consistent offensive production. Kensleigh Carrico anchored the paint all night, pulling down 11 big rebounds to help Loogootee control the interior. With the 42–19 victory, the Lady Lions improve to 6-0 on the season.
