The Linsly School is proud to announce that its boys varsity soccer program has accepted an invitation to join the Prep Premier League (PPL) beginning this fall season. The move, featured in a recent Sports Illustrated article on national prep soccer expansion, places Linsly among ten elite independent school soccer programs nationwide. With this expansion, Linsly joins the PPL’s West Division alongside regional and national powerhouses, including Andrews Osborne Academy (OH), Kiski School (PA), SPIRE Academy (OH), and Western Reserve Academy (OH). "Joining the Prep Premier League represents a significant step forward for Linsly soccer and reflects our commitment to offering our student-athletes top-tier competition on a national stage," said Dr. Justin Zimmerman, Head of School at The Linsly School. Mr. Greg Martin, Linsly’s Director of Operations and Current Head Soccer Coach, explained that the team has become more diverse in recent years, and with growing student interest in higher-level soccer, we felt we could continue to elevate the level of play by joining the PPL. Mr. Greg Martin, a Wheeling Jesuit University soccer alum and Linsly's head soccer coach for the last eight years, has also added an impressive assistant to his coaching staff. Brandon Regan (Linsly '03) has joined Linsly's coaching staff and brings a wealth of collegiate coaching and playing experience to the program. Over the last 16 years, Coach Regan has served in coaching roles at Washington & Lee University, Carnegie Mellon University, Robert Morris University, and, most recently, as Head Coach at Wheeling University. Coach Martin and Coach Regan will offer year-round support, training, and development opportunities. The Prep Premier League, founded in 2023, provides an elite platform for independent residential and day schools that emphasize year-round soccer development, high-level college exposure, and international player pipelines. The expanded league structure will feature an eight-game conference schedule, including crossover showcase weekends that bring all ten programs together at central locations before concluding with the PPL postseason tournament. By joining the PPL, Linsly hopes to continue attracting high-level players from the local area who want college exposure and opportunities to play against some of the nation's best programs. At Linsly, student-athletes have the added advantage of a more controlled, coordinated travel schedule, so academics and learning do not become secondary. Additionally, students gain the leadership skills of organization, responsibility, and time management, and benefit from consistent access to teachers, coaches, and mentors. The advantages of boarding school education are immense for all students. Local students can enroll as day students and receive many of the same benefits, or students from outside the area can enroll in the five- or seven-day boarding program at Linsly. Stepping into the PPL aligns directly with Linsly’s mission to foster academic excellence, character development, and competitive growth in a college prep environment. The Cadets look forward to building new rivalries while showcasing Linsly's talent and sportsmanship against the nation's premier prep programs. Linsly has played four friendly matches and has a 2-2 record. With a largely new roster and tough competition, they expect to be tested in every contest.
