Slicers Out Hit The Vikings But La Porte Slicers JV Fall To Valparaiso Junior Varsity Vikings

Nate Moses collected three hits in three at bats, but La Porte Slicers JV lost to Valparaiso Junior Varsity Vikings 5-3 on Wednesday. Moses singled in the third inning, singled in the fifth inning, and singled in the sixth inning. La Porte Slicers JV was right in it until Valparaiso Junior Varsity Vikings singled in the sixth inning. La Porte Slicers JV got on the board in the top of the third inning after Noah Combs hit a sacrifice fly, and Khalen Matzke singled down the left field line, each scoring one run. La Porte Slicers JV took the lead in the top of the fifth. Matzke singled, scoring one run, to give La Porte Slicers JV the leg up, 3-2. Valparaiso Junior Varsity Vikings took the lead, 5-3, in the bottom of the sixth. Lincoln Grohs took the loss for La Porte Slicers JV. The pitcher went five and one-third innings, surrendering five runs (two earned) on four hits, striking out three and walking five. Ian Mitchell came in to finish out the game retiring the two batters that he faced. Matzke provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led La Porte Slicers JV with two runs batted in. The outfielder went 2-for-4 on the day. Moses stole two bases. The Slicers are next in action Saturday, May 17th when they will take on Lowell in a double header at home. The game will be played at Schreiber Field starting at 10:00 am.
