Strong Hitting Not Enough As La Porte Varsity Slicers Falls To Valparaiso Even though La Porte Varsity Slicers collected 11 hits to Valparaiso's five, they still fell 5-4 on Wednesday. CT Rusboldt led La Porte Varsity Slicers with three hits. La Porte Varsity Slicers fought back after falling down by five runs in the third inning. The comeback fell just short though. La Porte Varsity Slicers closed the gap by scoring on a single, a single, and a single. Valparaiso jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the first inning after an error scored one run, and Adler Holtz homered to left field, scoring two runs. Valparaiso added two runs in the third. Caden Crowell singled down the right field line, making the score 5-0. Trevor Fenters earned the win for Valparaiso. The pitcher allowed seven hits and four runs over five and one-third innings, striking out five and walking two. Cody Benedict took the loss for La Porte Varsity Slicers. The hurler went five and one-third innings, allowing five runs (two earned) on five hits, striking out three and walking four. #22 earned the save.
