Khalen Matzke struck out 12 batters as the righty led La Porte Slicers JV past Valparaiso Junior Varsity Vikings 4-1 on Tuesday. Matzke surrendered four hits and one run over seven innings while walking two. La Porte Slicers JV opened the scoring in the bottom of the third thanks to three singles. La Porte Slicers JV first got on the board when Jon Rinkel singled, scoring two runs. Rinkel provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led La Porte Slicers JV with two runs batted in. He went 1-for-3 on the day. Nate Moses set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading La Porte Slicers JV with three hits in four at bats. Wes Kaiser collected two hits for La Porte Slicers JV in three at bats. The Slicers will next be in action Wednesday, May 14th when they will again take on the Vikings. This time they will head on the road for a 4:30 pm start.
