La Porte Varsity Slicers With Tough Game Against Valparaiso. La Porte Varsity Slicers couldn't keep up with Valparaiso and fell 7-0 on Tuesday. Valparaiso opened the scoring in the first after Trent Gill singled, scoring one run. Valparaiso added one run in the second after Matt Civanich tripled to center field on the seventh pitch of the at-bat. A double by Trevor Fenters extended the Valparaiso lead to 3-0 in the top of the third inning. Valparaiso scored three runs in the top of the seventh on a home run to left field by Fenters. Cody Ryden started the game for La Porte Varsity Slicers. The pitcher allowed nine hits and five runs (four earned) over six and one-third innings, striking out two and walking two. Caden Crowell stepped on the hill first for Valparaiso. The hurler gave up two hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out 10 and walking two. Braxton Maxfield and Reed Raymond each collected one hit for La Porte Varsity Slicers. La Porte Varsity Slicers turned one double play in the game. Valparaiso collected 11 hits in the game. Fenters drove the middle of the lineup, leading Valparaiso with four runs batted in. The infielder went 2-for-4 on the day. Gabe Bush and Fenters each collected two hits for Valparaiso. Bush stole two bases. Valparaiso didn't commit a single error in the field. Max Reaume had the most chances in the field with 10.
