La Porte Varsity Slicers Loses Pitchers Duel To NorthWood Both teams were strong on the mound on Saturday, but NorthWood was just a little bit stronger at the plate in their 2-1 victory over La Porte Varsity Slicers. Joey Kirk started the game for La Porte Varsity Slicers and recorded 16 outs. NorthWood were the first to get on the board in the first when Kirk induced Warren to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored. Rains earned the win for NorthWood. The pitcher gave up two hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out one and walking one. Kirk took the loss for La Porte Varsity Slicers. The right-handed pitcher went five and one-third innings, surrendering two runs on four hits, striking out five and walking three. Kirk went 2-for-3 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. M Bogan, Perry, Dutkowski, and Reed each collected one hit for NorthWood. Warren and Reed each drove in one run for NorthWood. NorthWood turned one double play in the game. NorthWood were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Warren had the most chances in the field with seven. La Porte Varsity Slicers welcome Merrillville on Tuesday for their next game.
