Gymnasts Improve Individual & Team Scores; Lose to Portage

Although the Slicers lost to Portage in their dual meet last night, the girls improved on all events including increasing their team score over 3 points! The Slicers earned their highest team score of the season 93.1 to Portage;s 99.875. Senior Ava Penziol earned season high scores on floor, beam, and all-around. Penziol placed 1st in vault (8.425), 4th on bars (7.5), 3rd on beam (8.325), 4th on floor (8.8), and 3rd all-around with a 33.05. Freshman Evie Travis also earned season high scores on beam, floor, and all-around. Travis was 2nd on vault (8.2), 3rd on bars (7.825), 1st on beam (8.575), 5th on floor (8.475), and 2nd overall with a 33.075. Freshman Genny Witulski earned a season high all-around of 26.925 earning her 7th place. She also tied her season high on vault of 7.7 for 7th, was 9th on bars (4.625), 6th on beam (7.375), and 8th on floor (7.225). Sophomore Jules Schadt earned a season high score on floor with a 6.425 earning her 10th and in all-around with a 22.875 for 9th. She also placed 8th on vault (7.6),bars (4.675), and 10th on beam (4.175). Freshman Aerabella Churchill placed 10th on bars with a 4.275, competing only in her second meet. Due to the snowy conditions, the dual meet at Merrillville will be rescheduled. The girls host New Prairie on Wednesday, Jan. 24. We will honor our senior Ava Penziol and two seniors from New Prairie. Please plan to arrive by 5:45pm for the opening introductions. We would love to see all current, future, and previous Slicer gymnasts in attencance.
