LaPorte hosted the Merrillville Pirates tonight on Senior Night, and won 140-28. In a meet where the Slicers outnumbered the Pirates nearly 2-1, the outcome wasn't in question. Shoutouts to the Merrillville swimmers, who gave their best effort. The Slicers opened the meet with a win in the 200 Medley Relay behind: Jakob Schroeder (backstroke), Abbas Hakim (breaststroke), Otto Wildhart (butterfly), and Allen Fuller (freestyle). Roman Garay won the 200 Freestyle, finishing 5 hundredths of a second ahead of teammate Chaise Adrian. Garay also finished second in the 100 Butterfly, swimming his first sub-minute 100. Seniors Allen Fuller, Caleb Johnson, and Michael Clark finished 1-2-3 in the 200 Individual Medley. Fuller, who normally swims the 50 and 100 Freestyle, dropped 22 seconds for the win. Freshman Gavin Crail, also swimming off events, won both the 50 Freestyle and 100 Backstroke. Andrew Hayes won diving with a score of 211.60. Jakob Schroeder won the 100 Butterfly and 100 Breaststroke. Distance specialist, Chaise Adrian, handily won the 100 Freestyle. Karter Griffin won the 500 Freestyle in a lifetime PR swim. The 200 Freestyle Relay of: Hayes, Caleb Johnson, Chase Childers, and Griffin won their event. The Slicers finished the evening with a win in the 400 Freestyle Relay behind: Adrian, Garay, Crail, and Schroeder. The Slicers record climbs to 14-3. They host Knox next Thursday, January 25th. After the meet, we had more Senior Night festivities, with food and recognition speeches given in the cafeteria. Always proud. Go Slicers! Coach Brahim
