Gymnastics (Girls V) Falls to Chesterton in Season Opener

The Slicer Girls' Gymnastics team hosted their season opener tonight against Chesterton. The Slicers lost 89.95 to 98.575. Freshman Evie Travis led the Slicers in her first HS meet finishing 3rd overall with a 32.425. Travis placed 4th on vault (8.075), 3rd on bars (7.925), 2nd on beam (8.375), and 3rd on floor (8.35). Senior Ava Penziol was fighting a cold but still competed a solid performance. Penziol placed 4th overall with a 31.65, was 3rd on vault (8.5), 4th on bars (7.1), 4th on beam (7.775), and 4th on floor (8.275). Freshman Genny Witulski placed 6th overall with a 25.875, 7th on vault (7.65), 6th on bars (4.75), 6th on beam (7.25), and 6th on floor (6.225). Sophomore Jules Schadt competed in three events in her first HS meet. She placed 8th on vault (7.6), 7th on bars (4.15), and 8th on beam (5.0). The Slicers travel to Crown Point Tuesday for their first away meet of the season. They did a great job for their first meet of the season.
