La Porte Varsity Softball fell 6-5 to Portage on Wednesday despite out-hitting them 10 to eight. Paige White, Madi Squire, and Shayla Sorg each collected two hits for La Porte Varsity Slicers. La Porte got on the board in the first inning after Squire singled, scoring one run. In the top of the third inning, La Porte went back into the lead after Sorg doubled to right field, and Portage committed an error, each scoring one run. Kieanna Simpson took started in the circle for La Porte. The hurler went three innings, surrendering six runs on seven hits, striking out four and walking three. La Porte tallied 10 hits in the game. Squire, Lexi Surowiec, Allie Wiencek, and Sorg each drove in one run for La Porte. La Porte turned one double play in the game. La Porte Varsity Slicers were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. La Porte will play at home on Friday against Jimtown in their next game.
