Softball (Girls V) Scores

La Porte Varsity Softball could not keep up with Valparaiso 11-8 on Tuesday. La Porte opened the scoring in the first after Shayla Sorg singled, scoring one run. Mia Johnson grounded out, which helped La Porte tie the game at two in the top of the second. La Porte flipped the game on its head in the top of the fourth, scoring six runs on four hits to take the lead, 8-7. The biggest blow in the inning was a home run to center field by Allie Wiencek that drove in three. Addison Combs stepped in the circle first for La Porte Varsity Slicers. The southpaw gave up three hits and seven runs (three earned) over three innings, striking out one and walking five. Wiencek went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with three runs batted in. Sorg went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead La Porte in hits. Lexi Surowiec paced La Porte Varsity Slicers with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, collecting seven walks for the game. La Porte will travel to Portage for their next game on Wednesday.
