La Porte Varsity Softballs Defeats Hebron

Jasmyn Moreno drove in four runs on three hits to lead La Porte Varsity Softball past Hebron 18-4 on Monday. Moreno singled in the first scoring two, singled in the second scoring one, and singled in the fifth scoring one. La Porte got on the board in the top of the first inning after Paige White tripled, scoring one run, Shayla Sorg singled, scoring one run, Moreno singled, scoring two runs, Addi Hill singled, scoring one run, and Evie Travis singled, scoring one run. La Porte scored six runs on four hits in the top of the second inning. Lexi Surowiec drew a walk, scoring one run, Moreno singled, scoring one run, Hill grounded out, scoring one run, Travis doubled, scoring two runs, and White singled, scoring one run. La Porte added one run in the third. Dani Amaya singled to center field, making the score 13-3. La Porte scored five runs on five hits in the top of the fifth inning. Aleda Weirich induced Allie Wiencek to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored, Moreno singled, scoring one run, Hill singled, scoring one run, White singled, scoring one run, and an error scored one run. Moreno led things off in the circle for La Porte. The hurler allowed five hits and four runs (two earned) over five innings, striking out five and walking two. La Porte tallied 18 hits in the game. White, Travis, Hill, and Moreno each collected three hits for La Porte Varsity Slicers. Madi Squire and Sorg each collected multiple hits for La Porte Varsity Slicers. Squire stole two bases. La Porte turned one double play in the game. La Porte will travel to Valparaiso for their next game on Tuesday.
