La Porte Slicers “C” Team Loses Despite Out Hitting Valparaiso Freshman Vikings

Even though La Porte Slicers “C” Team collected eight hits to Valparaiso Freshman Vikings's four, they still fell 11-8 on Monday. Colin Wathen, Avey Espinoza, and Jayden Proffitt each collected two hits for La Porte. Jack Lampa took the loss for the Slicers. The right-handed pitcher went two and two-thirds innings, allowing six runs (five earned) on two hits, striking out three and walking five. Eli Combs came on in relief and threw two and two-thirds innings as well. The righty allowed four runs (three earned) on two hits, striking out three and walking four. Nolan Darrell also threw one and two-thirds innings to wrap the game up. Darrell gave up one run (none earned) on no hits, striking out two and walking two. Espinoza led La Porte with four runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup. The catcher went 2-for-4 on the day. The Slicers had patience at the plate, piling up 11 walks for the game. Nolan Darrell, Brayden Watson, Josh Means, and Eli Combs led the team with two free passes each. Watson stole two bases. The next game for the La Porte Slicers “C” team will be on Thursday, April 23rd when they will again take on the Vikings. However, this time they will head on the road for a 4:30 pm scheduled start.
