Slicers Season Ends with Loss to SB Riley

The Boys Varsity basketball team could not sustain a fantastic defensive first half on Wednesday night in the IHSAA sectional against South Bend Riley (20-4), falling 58-40. La Porte got out to a 16-6 lead in the first half, before taking a 6 point lead into a halftime. The Wildcats came out of half knocking down 8/17 triples in the second half to open up a lead that would not be relinquished. La Porte was led by Sawyer Tonagel with 12 points, 10 rebs. Griffin Ott-Large had 8 points, 7 rebs, 4 assists. Dimitrius Staggers added 7 points, going 3/4 from the field, and Destin Matzke added 8 rebounds in the game. The loss ends the Slicer's season with a record of 16-8. Special thanks to the five graduating seniors for La Porte: Aidan Allen, Timothy Knoll, Riley Ryba, Dimitrius Staggers, and Sawyer Tonagel. These five will forever be part of the Slicer basketball family!
