LP Boys Swimming Tops Merrillville 111-39

The Slicers Boys Swim team beat the Merrillville Pirates 111-39 tonight at LP. The Slicers cruised to victory winning every event. LaPorte opened the meet with a win in the 200 Medley Relay with: Roman Garay (backstroke), Carson Retseck (breaststroke), Vijay Pillai (butterfly), and James Quadlin (freestyle). The rely of Noah Waak, Malachi Talbot, Aedan Bailey and Milo Jimenez finished second. Carson Retseck won the 200 Freestyle, with a lifetime PR of 1:57.86. Aedan Bailey finished 3rd with a 14 second time drop! Retseck also won the 100 Freestyle. James Quadlin and Vijay Pillai went 1-2 in the 200 Individual Medley. Quadlin also won the 100 Breaststroke. In the breaststroke, Hugo Luna-Zetina, normally a backstroke specialist, had a HUGE time drop cruising to another lifetime PR! Noah Waak and Malachi Talbot went 1-2 in the 50 Freestyle, with Waak setting a lifetime PR. Roman Garay won the 100 Butterfly, with Milo Jimenez and Aedan Bailey finishing 3-4 respectively, both with lifetime PR's. Garay also won the 100 Backstroke. Malachi Talbot and Milo Jimenez went 1-2 in the 500 Freestyle. LaPorte won the 200 Freestyle Relay with: Vijay Pillai, Hugo Luna-Zetina, Malachi Talbot and Noah Waak. Waak anchored he relay to another lifetime PR. The Slicers final event of the evening was a win in the 400 Freestyle Relay with: Carson Retseck, Hugo Luna-Zetina, Roman Garay, and James Quadlin.
