Gymnastics edges Chesterton in 1st dual of season

Congratulations to our Slicer gymnasts on their win over Chesterton tonight in their 1st dual meet of the season, 100.15 - 99.425. I'm so proud of our girls. We set a goal to break 100 this season and they accomplished it in their first meet! Junior Evie Travis led the Slicers placing on all events. She was 2nd on bars 8.05, beam 8.825, and all-around 34.475, and third on vault 8.6, and floor 9.0. Sophomore Kate Doty also had a great night placing 2nd on vault 8.675 and floor 9.15, and 3rd on bard 7.675, beam 8.45, and all-around 33.95. Junior Elena Lozano was 5th all-around 29.7, 9th on vault 7.475, 6th bars 6.425, 4th beam 7.75, and 7th on floor 8.05. Junior Genny Witulski was 7th on vault 7.85 and beam 7.325. She competed Team 2 for bars placing 2nd with a 5.475. Freshman Makenna Minnick was 5th on vault 8.3 and 4th on floor 8.75. She competed JV for bars and placed 1st with a 5.65 and beam 7.4. Freshman Molly Thibideau was 8th on bars 5.975, 7th on beam 7.325, and 9th on floor 7.975. She competed Team 2 on vault and was 1st on vault 7.8. Freshman Maddie Johnson was 6th on vault 7.975, 5th on bars 6.925, and 10th on floor 7.575. She competed Team 2 on beam and placed 3rd with a 6.575. Freshman Marlee Dhoore competed Team 2 and was 2nd on vault 7.1, 2nd on beam 7.1, and was 1st on floor 7.225. The Slicers travel to Crown Point for their next dual meet on Tuesday, January 13. Great job ladies!
