The Slicers Girls Swimming and Dive team beat the Elkhart Lions 96-80 in a close meet. The meet was undecided until after the 100 Breaststroke. This time of year presents a lot of challenges for the athletes on both teams. Seasonal illness has taken its toll, but out girls really stepped up and gave their best effort. LaPorte opened the meet with a win in the 200 Medley Relay with: Cali Hatala (backstroke), Grace Caviston (breaststroke), Noor Hakim (butterfly), and Isabel Barron (freestyle). The same quartet of girls also won the 400 Freestyle Relay. Cali Hatala won both the 200 Individual Medley and 100 Backstroke. Isabel Barron won both the 50 and 100 Freestyle events. Noor Hakim won both the 100 Butterfly and 500 Freestyle. Her Fly time was her second fastest lifetime, and it was unsited and untapered. The girls record climbs to 11-4. They host Hobart on Monday.
