Cougar Volleyball Battles at Quad, Sweeps Lakewood the Next Night

Lansing Catholic volleyball faced tough competition at the September 29 Quad, taking both Kalamazoo Christian and Marshall to four sets before falling just short. Against Kalamazoo Christian, the Cougars dropped the first two sets, rallied to win the third 26–24, but fell in the fourth. In the second match, they opened strong against Marshall with a 25–18 first-set win, then dropped three tight sets to close the night. Despite the losses, the Cougars saw standout efforts across the floor: Morgan Nichols combined for 17 kills and 8 digs. Kyra Vukovic tallied 21 kills, 11 digs, and 8 blocks across the two matches. Leighton Marlan posted 12 digs and 35 assists. Sara Tolfree anchored the defense with 60 digs across both matches. One night later, the Cougars showed resilience, sweeping Lakewood in three sets (25–23, 25–22, 25–20). Lansing Catholic kept pressure on throughout, with steady setting from Leighton Marlan (14 assists) and Kendall Young (6 assists, 6 digs), while Morgan Nichols put down 10 kills. Sara Tolfree added 22 digs, and Kyra Vukovic chipped in 6 kills and 7 digs to round out a balanced team win. The Cougars left the two-day stretch with valuable experience and momentum heading into their next set of matches.
