Volleyball Claims Bay City Western Tournament Championship

The Lansing Catholic Cougars volleyball team showed grit, skill, and teamwork on Saturday, powering their way through pool and bracket play to bring home the Bay City Western Tournament Championship. The Cougars opened pool play with convincing wins over Bay City Central (25-17, 25-23) and Lake Leelanau (25-18, 25-8). They then split sets with Midland (25-14, 22-25), setting the tone for a competitive rematch later in the day. In bracket play, Lansing Catholic continued their momentum, defeating host Bay City Western in straight sets (25-13, 25-22). The championship match pitted the Cougars once again against Midland, and this time the Cougars left no doubt, dominating 25-20 and 25-9 to secure the title. Standout Performances The victory was a true team effort, but several Cougars made their mark on the stat sheet: Kyra Vukovic: 39 kills, 7 blocks, 5 aces, 4 digs Morgan Nichols: 23 kills, 12 aces, 29 digs, 1 assist Chloe Reece: 16 kills, 2 digs, 2 blocks Sara Tolfree: 69 digs, 8 aces, 8 assists Leighton Marlan: 60 assists, 6 aces, 13 digs, 4 kills With the Bay City Western Tournament championship trophy in hand, the Cougars continue to build momentum and confidence as the season unfolds.
