Two former athletes from Lansing Catholic High School were back in the spotlight at the collegiate level as Amanda Melling (C'22) and Julia Sambaer (C'25) competed in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Women’s Golf Championship. Melling, representing Saint Mary's College, delivered an outstanding performance, finishing 1st overall in the highly competitive field. Her strong weekend helped the Belles secure their third consecutive MIAA Championship and the 13th conference title in program history. For her performance, Melling was named MIAA Women’s Golf Athlete of the Week and earned her second All-MIAA First Team honor, continuing an impressive collegiate career. Sambaer also had an excellent showing, finishing 7th overall at the conference championship. During the tournament, she fired a 73, which stands as the second-lowest round in Albion program history. Both former Cougars continue to represent Lansing Catholic well at the next level, competing and excelling against some of the best golfers in the conference.
