The softball team from Lansing Catholic High School continued its strong start to the season Tuesday, sweeping Charlotte High School in dominant fashion with 12–0 and 14–1 victories, both ending after five innings. Game 1: Cougars 12, Orioles 0 Zoey Gruber delivered a dominant performance in the circle to open the doubleheader. The Cougar pitcher threw a five-inning complete game one-hitter, striking out 12 batters while allowing no runs and just one walk. Gruber also contributed offensively, going 1-for-2 with a double, two RBIs, two runs scored, a sacrifice fly, and a walk. Avery Dunneback helped lead the offense, finishing 2-for-3 with two RBIs, three runs scored, and a stolen base. Taylor Dunneback reached base throughout the game and scored three runs while adding an RBI and a stolen base. Game 2: Cougars 14, Orioles 1 The Cougar offense continued to roll in the second game, while Katy Howard earned the win in the circle with five innings of work allowing one run on two hits. Avery Dunneback powered the lineup, finishing 3-for-4 with two doubles and a three-run home run, driving in four runs and scoring three times. Taylor Dunneback added four RBIs, including a double and two sacrifice flies. Zoey Gruber collected three hits, three RBIs, two runs scored, and two stolen bases. Additional offensive support came from Soryn Ellis, who went 2-for-2 with three runs scored and a walk, and Sydney Convey, who recorded two hits and two RBIs.
