Girls Take First, Boys Earn Podium Finish at Jim Gardiner Invite

Lansing Catholic track and field delivered an impressive showing at the Jim Gardiner Invite, with the girls team capturing a first-place finish and the boys earning third overall. The girls were dominant across multiple events, highlighted by individual victories from Grace Wonch in the 800 meters, Anna Drauer in the mile, and Elsa Korte in the 3000 meters. The team also swept the relays, taking first in the 4x800 (Melinn, Ludwig, Wonch, Bishop), 4x400 (Melinn, Wonch, Bishop, Gates), and the sprint medley relay (Obinwanne, Riley, Diehl, Melinn). Izzy Currie added to the standout performances with a second-place finish in the 60m hurdles while breaking her own school record. On the boys side, Leland Van Alstine earned a first-place finish in the 60m hurdles, also breaking his own school record. The 4x400 relay team of Krumm, Dillon, Gates, and Van Alstine added another victory to help lead the boys to a third-place team finish. It was a strong all-around performance for the Cougars, showcasing depth, talent, and continued growth across both programs.
