Cougar Sighting: Anna Richards Named MIAA Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week

Lansing Catholic alum Anna Richards, now a sophomore guard at Hope College, has been named the MIAA Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week after powering the Flying Dutch to a perfect 3–0 record. Richards’ performance included wins over Alma (85–59), Carthage (80–52), and No. 10 Illinois Wesleyan (76–73). Richards earned MVP honors at the Michele Schoon Classic, delivering a consistently strong three-game stretch: vs. Alma: 11 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal vs. Carthage: 17 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals vs. No. 10 Illinois Wesleyan: 17 points, 14 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 blocks, 2 steals Across the week, Richards proved to be one of the most productive players in the league, currently ranking among the MIAA’s top five in field goals (31), three-pointers (9), points (78), defensive rebounds (33), total rebounds (45), assists (24), and steals (12). Her all-around contribution highlights the same drive, talent, and leadership she displayed at Lansing Catholic, now making an impact at the collegiate level.
