It came down to the final relay of the day to find out which team would be crowned champions; LC led Crown Point by just 5 points. The Indians 400 Free Relay team of Khang Huynh, Matthew Miles, Cameron Mosley, and Jacob Miczek did exactly what they needed to do finishing in 3rd place securing the team the needed 32 points for victory. This was probably the most dramatic and gut-wrenching swim finals in a long time with three teams all viable options to win. Lake Central finished with 468 points, Crown Point had 465 points, and Munster 446 points. The Indians started the day off great winning the 200 Yard Individual Medley Relay in dominating fashion: The relay team of Dylan Pacheco, Cal Bowman, Tim Hampton, and Kajust Rudzevicius earned the Indians 40 quick points. Jacob Miczek (4th), Benjamin Billingsley (6th), and Jack Bulfer (9th) all scored for the Indians in the 200 Free; giving LC a narrow 2 point team lead. The 200 Yard IM came next; and Hampton (4th), Pacheco (5th), and Nicholas Ace (7th) kept the Indians in the team lead over Munster by 1 point and Crown Point by 3 points. Cal Bowman and Kajus Rudzivicius went 1 and 2 in the 50 Free. The first place finish earned Bowman a spot in the 50 at the State Finals. Rudzivicius just missed the state cut time and received a call back to swim at state. Mosely finished in 6th in the 50, and helped LC stretch its team lead to 9 over Munster and 18 over Crown Point. Nicolas Tomei finished 7th in diving securing 12 team points. In the 100 fly, Hampton (2nd), Miles (3rd), and Aidan Nowinski (5th) kept LC in the lead by a narrow margin (4 pts). Huynh won the consolation race in the 100, and Bowman and Rudzevicius again went 1-2 extending the team lead. This tight team race continued the entire day and LC managed to hold a narrow lead. Pacheco (2nd), Miles (4th), and Chyler Schuster (5th) swam the 100 back. Mosley (3rd) and Brody Cailles (7th) earned points for LC in the breaststroke. Rudzivicius, Hampton, Mosley, and Bowman earned a state swim winning the 200 Free Relay by nearly 2 seconds. The next stop for LC is the state finals which begin on Friday at 5 PM CST at the Indiana University Natatorium in Indianapolis, IN.
