Lake Central High School

Lake Central wrestled the Hobart Regional on Saturday. The top 4 wrestlers in each weight class advance to the Semi-State Championship at East Chicago Central on Saturday morning. The Indians finished the regional 4th as a team out of the 17 participants. They were also able to advance 6 to the Semi-State round. Highlighting the 6 is Emilio Tirado (175 lbs) who was a Regional Champion on Saturday, as well as Cruz Orueta (106 lbs) who also was a Regional Champion. Gabriel Ruano advanced at 113 lbs by finishing 4th overall; Luke Neid advanced at 120 lbs finishing 3rd overall. Tino Garcia lost in the championship and earned a runner-up finish (165) to state ranked number 1 Adrian Pellot of Merrillville. Brendan Peterson had a great day finishing 2nd at 190 pounds.
