The Lake Central girls' cross country team is the 2024 IHSAA Regional team champion. This is their first regional championship since 2021 (last semi-state was 2015--this is year 2 of no semi-state). LC had 3 in the top 10 to sneak out a narrow team victory over Penn; the victory over the rest of the field was by a wide margin. Macey Thompson was the individual champion, Lana Bruggeman finished in 5th place and Chloe Neal finished in 6th place. Aubrey Neal finished in 26th, Mackenzie Smith in 28th, Roxann Martinez in 54th, and Katelyn Smith in 72nd. The girls will travel to Terre Haute to run the Lavern Gibson Championship course and compete for a state championship. LC's best team finishes came in 2007 and 2008; they were State Runner-Up those two years.
