Volleyball: Lake Central 3 Portage 0 The LC varsity volleyball team defeated another DAC opponent last night. The Indians dominated Portage in a 3-0 sweep with scores of 25-11, 25-16 , and 25-15. The JV won 2-0 and the freshman lost 1-2. Mika Salinas led all hitters with 11 kills 10 digs, Kailey Skurka added 6 kills and 3 aces, and Lexi Iwema and Bella Denson each added 5 kills. The Indians will host the Michigan City Wolves and celebrate their seniors this evening. Girls' Soccer: Lake Central 2 Valparaiso 0 (OT) The girls won an overtime thriller on the road at Valparaiso on Tuesday night 2-0. Goals were scored by Phoebe Fogarty and Lyla Cooper. The goals were assisted by Leah Rocha and Faty Cervantes. Olivia Pelot's 13 saves were crucial in the victory. Lake Central finished DAC play 6-1 to earn a 2nd place DAC finish. The Indians have one final tune-up tonight at Lowell before they enter sectional play at Lake Central. Boys' Soccer: Lake Central 2 Valparaiso 1 On senior night, the boys' earned a thrilling 2-1 victory with both goals coming in the final 10 minutes. Lake Central finished regular season season play 6-5-3 and 5-2 in the DAC. On this night the JV blue won 2-1 securing an 8-3 overall record, and the JV white tied at zero. They have a tourney this weekend to wrap up their season. Troy Howell got the scoring going for LC with a header off of an Ethan Tarry corner, and Jake Mizrachi punched in the game winner shortly after on a George Karabatsos assist. LC will play East Chicago Central on Monday at 6 pm in the Munster Sectional.
