Girls' Golf Wins Regional Championship

The girls' golf team earned their first Regional Championship since 2016 and third in school history on Saturday. Allie Huppenthal, Macy Urbanski, Victoria Schilling, Peyton Schilling, and Piper Urbanski all contributed to the team championship. Huppenthal (76) finished 2nd overall in the 90 golfer field, and Macy Urbanski (82) finished 5th overall. Lake Central bested the 15 team field, defeating 2nd place South Bend Saint Joseph by 10 strokes and third place Rochester by 18 strokes. The host site was Sandy Pines Golf Club and the girls' earned this championship in windy conditions. The Indians will travel to the State Finals and play 36 holes at Prairie View Golf Club on October 4th and 5th. Starting times and groupings will be released in the upcoming days. In '14 the girls finished 7th as a team which is the best finish in school history. Lake Central has finished 10th four times, 2016 being one of those.
