Boys' Track--Lake Central headed south to the Carmel Distance Showcase. Seven runners made the trip to race in the loaded field: Kris Garner (10:01:61), Tyler Gagliardi 10:32:11), Evan Smith (9:32:92), Roger Ochoa (9:41:26), Austin Wojcik (10:04:78), Ben Perschon (9:37.83), and Riley Petrovich (9:50:06). Lake Central shot a respectable 332 on the day which put them in 10th overall. The JV team finished in 17th with a 359. LC was led by Sebastian Darak's 78. Troy Howell fired a career best 79 and Tyler Morton shot an 80 for LC. Logan Carroll and Matthew Tuley both fired 89s for the JV. See the full results page in the attachments at the bottom. Varsity Softball--Lake Central traveled to Carmel to take place in the Carmel Softball Invitational. LC played Carmel on Friday and defeated the hosts 14-4. Freshman Maddie Such struck out 13 allowing 4 runs to earn the win. Taylor Schafer was hot at the plate adding 4 hits, including a double and a homer, and 4 RBIs. Kate Renschen chipped in 3 hits (HR), scored 2 runs, and drove in 2. Jolie Adams added 2 hits and scored 3 times. In game 2, LC defeated Avon in a run-rule shortened game 10-0. Sofia Caderaro fired a one-hitter for the victory. Three Indians had multi-hit games: Jolie Adams had 3 hits and scored 3 runs; Lexi Iwema was 2-2 with 3 RBIs and a HR and 2B; MaKayla Van Vossen had 2 doubles. Against Brownsburg, LC raced to a 10-1 lead before Brownsburg cut it to 10-7 heading to the 7th. Caldarero relieved Such to earn the save. Kate Renschen and Jolie Adams both had 3 hits and scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Renschen homered again in this one. Box scores for each game are attached below. Varsity Baseball--Lake Central hosted the back-to-back state champion Penn Kingsman on Saturday. LC's pitching was dynamite throwing up zeroes for 14 innings Saturday. LC won game 1 4-0 and game 2 8-0. Josh Flores flashed electric stuff in game one only allowing one hit; he struck out 10 and walked 4. Offensively Brenden Smith had 2 hits for LC. Luke O'Keefe threw 5 innings of one hit baseball in game 2; he k'd 6 and walked 4. LC had 9 hits as a team coming from 9 different players. Quinn O'Bryan and Drew Kosteba both doubled. LC travels to Michigan City Tuesday. Box scores for each game are attached below. JV Blue Baseball--The JV also took 2 from Penn on Saturday. In game one (6-2), Tyler Thuftedal fired 5 innings of no hit baseball allowing one run. Keegan O'Bryan, Andrew Brower, and Cam Reddick each had 2 hits. The second game (5-3) saw LC jump out to a 3-0 lead and cruise to victory. Roman Garza threw 6 quality innings to earn the win. Anthony Sanchez led the way with 3 hits, while Keegan O'Bryan and Dylan Hein each had 2 hits. Girls' Tennis--Lake Central attended the Athenian Booster Invitational. The field featured Bloomington North, Crawfordsville, Delta, McCutcheon, Noblesville, Terre Haute North, and Warren Central. This was a position tournament with 1-2-3 singles and 1 and 2 doubles. Points were earned in each round. The final scorecard for the event is attached. LC finished in 6th.
