Flag Football Defeats Merrillville in its Opener The girls' flag football team looked like a group that has been playing together for years after an impressive debut yesterday evening at Merrillville. The Indians defeated the host Pirates 46-12. LC started fast and built a 30-0 halftime lead. This was a statement win for the Indians, as they came out swinging on both offense and defense to start their season 1-0. As a team, the Indians amassed 258 total years; 197 through the air and 61 on the ground. LC scored on 71% of its possessions (5 out of 7). The scoring drives includes 4 plays of greater than 15 yards, 3 plays of greater than 20 yards, and 2 plays of greater than 40 yards. LC had many offensive leaders in the total team effort. Parker Reddick had 140 receiving yards on 6 receptions, 4 of those went for TDs. Reddick also rushed for 48 yards and a TD. Anna Koulianos and Anna Dobricky were dynamite at the QB position. Koulianos went 6-9 on passing for 147 yards and two TDS. This included a 59 yard completion. Anna Dobricky was 5-9 passing for 42 yards and 2 TDs. As impressive as the offense was the defense may have been more impressive. The Indians forced 5 turnovers, all via interception. Reddick had 2 picks, including one she took to the house! Roxann Martinez, Emma Myszak, and Chelsea Burke also joined the turnover party with interceptions. Next up... the Indians will travel to Munster to take on last year's state runners-up.
