Girls' Wrestling Advances 3 to the IHSAA Regional at Plymouth HS Full Results: https://www.ihsaa.org/sites/default/files/documents/2025-26%20GWR%20Illiana%20Christian%20Sectional.pdf The Lady Indians wrestled at Illiana Christian in the IHSAA Sectional to start the new year. LC finished in 5th place out of the 16 teams. Lake Central had 3 Regional qualifiers that will wrestle on Saturday at Plymouth High School: At 110 pounds, Genevieve Rogers earned a 4th place finish to advance; At 190 pounds, Jasmyn Spraggins continued her impressive season wrestling her way to a 2nd place finish; and at 235 pounds, Riley Nunez pinned her way to the finals before falling, earning 2nd place. Lake Central had several wrestlers just miss the cut. Khloe Cortez and Victoria Bosia both won their opener before falling in the consolation placement match. Caitlin Bice and Leany Gold-Hurrins both fell just short falling in the placement rounds. Nasira Callaway also wrestled and lost her opener. The Indians were victorious as a team posting a 102.65 score overall. Gabriella Arroyo finished 2nd in the overall to a very talented Westville gymnast. Arroyo posted an All-Around of 35.100. Kailynn Paat was second in the All-Around with a 33.750, and Gabrielle Robbins finished tied for third with a 32.150. Arroyo posted a winning score on the balance beam with an impressive 9.6. The Indians travel to Valparaiso Saturday for the Viking Pairs. Boys' Basketball Defeats Munster Before Dropping Two at the North Central Holiday Classic Game 1 @ Munster: LC 66 Munster 30 In the annual kick-off the Holiday break battle between rivals Lake Central and Munster, the Indians came ready to play routing the Mustangs on the road. LC had a balanced attached with David Aguilera, Christian Martinez, and Jakob Billmeyer all adding 8 points. Cooper Kroncke added 9 on 3-3 balls; and Noah Enyeart filled up the stat sheet, leading the way with 16 points and 14 rebounds (both game highs), and 3 steals. Game 2 @ North Central vs Pike: LC 37 Pike 69 Lake Central fell behind early in this one and had trouble closing the gap falling to state ranked #3 Pike. Evan Gellar added 6 points and 7 boards, and Noah Enyeart led the way with 13 points and 8 rebounds. Game 3 @ North Central vs Carmel: LC 45 Carmel 58 Lake Central battled state ranked #4 Carmel and had their chances. The Indians drilled 7 three-pointers in the first half to keep it close. Cooper Kroncke led the scoring for LC with 13; Jakob Billmeyer added 12; Evan Geller had 10 points and 4 assists; and Noah Enyeart led LC with 4 rebounds and 5 assists. LC travels to La Porte on Friday to open DAC play. Girls' Basketball Goes 2-2 at the Carl Sandburg Holiday Tournament Game 1: LC 31 Plainfield South 20 Jill Beaderstadt had a monster performance pouring in 24 of the team's 32 points and snaring 7 rebounds. Emma Szany and 4 points, 10 rebounds (game high), and 3 assists. Game 2: LC 45 Carl Sandburg 54 Game 2 in the tournament didn't go as planned but was close from start to finish. Beaderstadt once again led the way with 12 and 6. The Indians' scoring attack was more balanced as Emma Myszak added 8; Neila Ogden 7; and Alex Myszak 6. Allison Yott added 6 boards and 4 assists; and Szany and Diane Jeffries both had 5 rebounds. Game 3: LC 29 Downers Grove South 32 LC dropped another tight one in a back-and-forth battle. Emma Myszak led the way with 7 points and 4 rebounds; Beaderstadt added 6 points and 9 boards; Szany had 6 and 4; Alex Myszak scored 5 points; and Neila Ogden led the way with 4 assists. Game 4: LC 49 Larkin 44 LC finished the Holiday Classic strong defeating Larkin. Emma Myszak stuffed the stat sheet with 8 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 assists. Beaderstadt led LC in scoring with 16. Diane Jeffires had a great game just missing a double-double with 10 points and 9 boards. Allison Yott chipped in 7 points. LC heads to La Porte on Saturday for a DAC contest. LC Wrestles the 47th Annual Al Smith The Indians traveled to Mishawaka over break to wrestle the prestigous Al Smith Classic. This is a 25 team tournament featuring the best Indiana has to offer. Cruz Orueta, sophomore, shined for Lake Central finishing in 5th place overall. Luke Neid, Cameron Reed, and Jake Luedtke all earned a day 2 match by winning their first match, and each won one match on day 2. LC finished 21 out of 25 in the team race. The Indians will host La Porte in DAC wrestling tomorrow.
