Girls' Track and Field a Strong 3rd at NCC; Sytsma Sets 800 MEET RECORD, Also Wins the 1600 and Joins Walker, Terborg, G. Diener in 4x800 Win; Hanselman High Jump Champion

NCC meet @Lowell HS; KV-3rd with 99 points/7 teams in a meet featuring several of the state's best athletes. Despite another cold, windy and rainy night, KV performed very well, with four event champions, seven total All-NCC selections and some personal records (PRs), and season-bests (SB.). Pole vault was postponed till Thursday. KV placers: (All-NCC 1st Team are event champions, Honorable Mention is 3rd place.) 100: 3. Avery Myers-13.00, a sensational SB time for Myers, who ran way above projected seed. 7. Elyce Gillette-13.26. 200: 5. Myers-27.34, another outstanding run for the junior. 400: 5. Gabbi Diener- a very good SB for the senior, who had a great meet of 62.18, 7. Gillette-65.32. 800: 1. Krista Sytsma-2:18.27, a MEET RECORD for the sensational junior, who sets yet another record, 6. Faith Terborg-an outstanding PR time for Terborg of 2:29.95. 1600: 1. Sytsma-5:03.91, 5. Jenna Walker-5:21.79, dynamic duo back together, two very good courageous runs here. 3200: 5. Haylie Bristol-12:44.43, 7. Ainsley Summers-13:17.72, two gutsy runs by these two, who have both improved a great deal this season. 100 hurdles: 6. Cheyenne Flatt-17.50, 7. Sophie Singleton-17.94. 300 hurdles: 5. Flatt-52.60, another fine run by Flatt, who battled hard all meet in both hurdles, 6. Singleton-53.34. 4x100 relay: 4. Myers-Singleton-G. Diener-Gillette-52.32, good handoffs and four good runs. 4x400 relay: 4. Walker-Reese Van Meter-Avery Diener-G. Diener-4:17.99, an excellent time, very good runs by all, with Walker splitting a 62 low lead off leg. 4x800 relay: 1. Walker-Terborg-G. Diener-Sytsma-9:45.01, a huge SB time here, with 4 great runs: Walker returns with a very impressive lead off leg of 2:22+, and Sytsma anchoring in a very fast 2:21+, this time was just off the school record. High Jump: 1. Leah Hanselman-5-2, another highlight event for the Kougs, Hanselman PR's by a ridiculous FOUR inches to claim the high jump crown. Long Jump: 3. Singleton-16-10, another clutch jump by the rookie, for an important place. Shot put: 3. Jackie Vander Woude-33-10.5, huge effort here by the vastly improved sophomore, 6. Olivia Adams-32-6.5, Vander Woude and Adams continue their stellar seasons. Discus: 4. Adams-92-3, important place by Adams, 6. Tinley Van Meter-90-1. great throw by the freshman, who garnered a very important 6th place, came in seeded 9th! Final overall regular season record: 30-4, with 3 big meet titles. Go Kougs!
