Kankakee Valley High School

Kankakee Valley High School boys' track and field team competed in the Twin Lakes Relays Invitational on Friday, April 24 and the Gene Edmonds Relays Invitational on Friday, May 1, 2026. The Kougars left on both evenings without a clear picture of their victory. At Twin Lakes, KV won every track relay, only to hear that the score favored the host school by one point. Later examination of the results revealed a scoring error in the field events by the timing company. Though the official score still has not been announced, Twin Lakes has declared KV the winner of the night. A week later, Kougars competed in the Gene Edmonds Invite, ordinarily hosted by Rensselaer Central but hosted by South Newton High School due to storm damage at the Rensselaer facility. The evening concluded with Rensselaer Central announced as the winner...corrected seconds later as KV as the winner. Questions arose over the scoring -- particularly if the frosh-soph relays were counted toward team totals -- and whether a disqualification was properly registered with the official.
