Girls' Win TL Relays; Hass Sets Pole Vault School Record , Joins Robledo for Meet Record; Sytsma Sets 3200 School Record; Flatt-Hass-Dresbaugh and Singleton Set Meet Record in Shuttle Hurdle Relay!

KVHS Girls' Track and Field: Friday night was an outstanding evening for the Lady Kougars, winning the Twin Lakes (TL) Relays girls' team title with 112 points in the 7 team field, and combining with the KVHS boys' team to also take the corporation championship. In addition, they set several records there and in Carmel, IN. Haylee Hass sailed a phenomenal 11-4 in the pole vault, breaking her own SCHOOL RECORD, and combined with Jaslyne Robledo's 8-6, set a new MEET RECORD at TL, with a combined 19-10. Hass then joined Cheyenne Flatt, McKinley Dresbaugh and Sophie Singleton to also shatter the previous 4x100 yard shuttle hurdle relay record, with a time of 58.77. In Carmel , at the 3200 Distance Showcase, Krista Sytsma ran a sensational new SCHOOL RECORD time of 10:37.28, breaking the time of 10:45.0, set in 1988 by the legendary Celeste (Susnis) Robinson. Other outstanding efforts at Twin Lakes, along with the pole vault and shuttle hurdle wins, were: Olivia Adams and Jackie Vander Woude winning the shot put relay with a tremendous combined throw of 65-7.5, and Adams and Tinley Van Meter, who had a massive personal record (PR) of 93-5, taking 2nd in the discus relay. This 1-2 finish in the throws is the best finish at this meet in recent memory. Leah Hanselman, who tied her PR at 4-10, and Brooklyn Whitt won the high jump relay. Singleton and Camry Krueger won the long jump relay. The distance medley relay team of Reese Van Meter-Laurel Van Meter-Avery Diener and Ainsley Summers were 3rd in 11:12.06. Faith Terborg and Haylie Bristol combined to win the 1600 meter run relay, with two outstanding PR runs of 5:42.24 and 5:58.49. Terborg-Dresbaugh-Bristol and R. Van Meter were 2nd in the 4x800 relay in 10:51.58. Avery Myers-Singleton, her fourth gold medal of the meet, -Gabbi Diener and Elyce Gillette won both the 4x100 and sprint medley relays (SMR) , in excellent times of 52.07 and 1:56.13; Gillette blasting a 25.3 200 lead off SMR split leg. G. Diener and Gillette then joined A. Diener and R. Van Meter to capture the 4x400 victory in an outstanding time of 4:20.37, three golds each for senior besties G. Diener and Gillette on the evening. Coaches Hass, Mathley, Ziel and Lewallen, along with stellar manager Brooke Sharp, were all very proud of the entire team! Go Kougs! Overall record: 16-0.
