Lady Kougar Track and Field Edges Munster on Senior Night!

Girls' Track and Field won a hard fought NCC contest with Munster last night 69-63, with every event and point very important. They are now 10-0 overall, and 2-0 in the NCC. A huge thank you to Coach Adams and Munster's Coach Stalbaum for all their work. Distance standout Krista Sytsma had a sensational meet, dominating the 1600 and 800 runs with epic times of 4:57.85, a personal record (PR), and 2:18.0, a season best (SB)! Senior Haylee Hass battled the wind and weather, and again jumped a terrific 10-9 pole vault, to win her speciality yet again! Both Sytsma and Hass have very high state rankings. Freshman Sophie Singleton had a monster meet, with FOUR wins, and her team needed every point! She won the long jump at 16-8, and blasted huge PR's in the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles with times of 16.47 and 50.50. She then joined Avery Myers, and seniors Gabbi Diener and Elyce Gillette in winning the 4x100 in an excellent time of 51.41, one of the fastest 4x1 times in recent years. G. Diener, having the best season of her career, ran a terrific 400 to win in a SB time of 62.68; she also had a very fast 4x800 lead off leg of 2:30.0! Jackie Vander Woude had a massive PR shot put of 33-8, good for a very important 2nd place! Liv Adams had two thirds in shot and discus, with efforts of 32-9.5 and 97-0, the throws crew coming through big time once again! The long jump proved critical, with a huge SWEEP by Singleton in first, Laurel Van Meter in 2nd, tying her PR of 14-0, and Camry Krueger-3rd in 13-10.5. Gillette and Myers both earned vital points in the 100 and 200, going 2-3 in both, with times of 13.35 and 13.43 in the 100, and 26.94, a 200 PR for Gillette, and a 27.56 200 for Myers. Senior Cheyenne Flatt had another stellar meet, taking 2nd in the 100 hurdles in a near PR time of 17.28, and a gutsy 3rd in the 300 hurdles in 53.92. Classmate Jas Robledo took 2nd in the pole vault at 8-0, an important 3 points for her team. Avery Diener sprinted home 3rd in the 400 in an excellent PR time of 63.28. The hard working Leah Hanselman took 2nd in the high jump, with freshmen Alyssa Groen and Brooklyn Whitt going 3-4, all three jumpers cleared 4-8. Other notable efforts : L. Van Meter-67.33 PR in the 400; Annie Lindberg-PR of 69.02 in the 400; Faith Terborg- a near PR of 5:49.22 in the 1600, after a strong 4x800 leg; Haylie Bristol a fine PR of 5:53.22 in the 1600; Reese Van Meter-SB of 2:39.0 in the 800; Ainsley Summers had yet another PR in the 3200 of 13:19.20 ; Reegan Joseph had another fine discus throw of 72-2 and the 4x400 relay team of A. and G. Diener, R. Van Meter and Gillette had a huge SB time of 4:16.1. Great meet ladies! They return to action Friday at the Twin Lakes Relays.
