Kankakee Valley traveled to Hobart for a Northwest Crossroads Conference matchup, greeted by one of the most beautiful, sun-filled days of the spring season. With energy high and spirits lifted by the rare stretch of great weather, KV took the courts ready to compete and make the most of the opportunity. From the start, KV’s warm-ups reflected a team locked in and focused. The players brought intensity and purpose, showing clear determination for the challenge ahead. That preparation quickly translated into match play, where KV displayed strong fundamentals and confidence across the lineup. A standout performance came from Maggie Norwind, who showed tremendous resilience and in-match adjustment. After falling behind 0-4 early, she regrouped and began to read her opponent more effectively, finding ways to lean into her own strengths. From that point on, Maggie took control, winning every remaining game and finishing with an impressive 6-4, 6-0 victory. Throughout the evening, KV competed with poise, grace, and consistency, turning in several commanding performances. Their steady play and composure helped create an enjoyable atmosphere for both teammates and spectators, as match after match leaned in KV’s favor. By the end of the night, the results spoke for themselves. KV secured a 4-1 victory at the varsity level, with the junior varsity squad matching that success with a 4-1 win of their own, capping off an impressive and well-rounded showing for Kankakee Valley. - Coach Darian DeVries
