It’s been a 23 day delay, but the Lady Kougar C Team finally welcomed the Lafayette Jeff Lady Broncos into the Kougar Den. The ladies were the opening act for a girll/boy doubleheader. The C Team had not played a game since before the Thanksgiving holiday and the 9 days between games had an impact on the flow of the game. The initial quarter saw both teams struggle to find the bottom of the net. The Lady Kougars took a 4-2 lead. In the 2nd quarter, both teams found a little more rhythm. KV would notch 10 points to Jeff’s 9. Halftime score, 14-11. After the break, defense would prevail again. Lafayette Jeff continued their full court pressure from the first half as KV went into their 1-3-1 trap to start the 3rd. The pressure forced both teams to speed up their game and saw a lot of deflections and miscues. The Lady Kougars would manage to hit 4 of 6 FTs in the frame and held the Lady Bronchos to just a basket. KV led 18-13. Both teams kept up the defensive heat in the final frame. Lafayette Jeff made a final fury to get within 2. But Lindsey Crowley would grab a defensive rebound with 10 seconds left. The Bronchos would have to foul. Lindsey knocked down one free throw to seal the victory, 21-18. Tinley Van Meter led the Kougars with 10 points, Brooklyn Whitt and Maci Schoon had 4 each, Laney Walstra added 2, and Crowley 1. Aubree Bristol would celebrate her 15th birthday with a victory and battled hard in the post against a very aggressive and athletic opponent. The C Team moves to 4-0 on the season. Next up is another Tippecanoe County foe as the ladies will travel to West Lafayette Harrison on Monday, December 8th at 5:30 pm CST. Hopefully Old Man Winter and Mother Nature relinquish their wrath on NW Indiana!
