Baseball - Red Devils lose despite outhitting BNL

Thursday - April 20th, 2023 Jeffersonville Varsity Red Devils fell to Bedford North Lawrence 6-5 on Friday on the final play of the game. The game was tied at five with Bedford North Lawrence batting in the bottom of the seventh when Cole Singleton induced Cal Gates to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored. Bedford North Lawrence captured the lead in the first inning. Bedford North Lawrence scored two runs when Ryker Hughes doubled. Walker Ward toed the rubber for Bedford North Lawrence. The hurler went seven innings, allowing five runs on eight hits and striking out seven. Caiden White was on the hill for Jeffersonville Varsity Red Devils. The righthander lasted three innings, allowing six hits and four runs while striking out five. Singleton threw three and two-thirds innings out of the bullpen. Brett Denby went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Jeffersonville Varsity Red Devils in hits. Bedford North Lawrence scattered six hits in the game. Hughes and Ward all managed multiple hits for Bedford North Lawrence. The Red Devils will be back in action on Saturday April 22nd at Corydon Central. Should field conditions prevent the game from taking place at Corydon, plans are on place to play the game at Jeffersonville. All depends on the weather.
