Alex Farmer Named Next JHS Softball Head Coach!

Tuesday, July 24th the GCCS Board of Trustees approved the hiring of Alex Farmer as the new head softball coach at Jeffersonville High School. Farmer joined the softball staff as an assistant the fall of 2022 and has remained on staff in that assistant role until board approval last night. The Booneville High School grad went on to play softball collegiately at Indiana State University before transferring to Kentucky Wesleyan College where she was also a member of the softball team while earning her bachelor's degree in psychology. Her coaching career began in 2016 when she joined the Booneville HS softball staff as an assistant coach before being named head coach in 2017. She remained head coach at Booneville thru the 2020 season. While at Booneville the team was a semi-state finalist in 2016, Big Eight Conf Champs in 2017 and Big Eight Conf Runners-up in 2018. Farmer is excited about her new post and is ready to get started. "I am incredibly honored and excited to be named the new head softball coach at Jeffersonville High School.. This opportunity is a dream come true, and I am eager to continue working with the talented student-athletes here." says Farmer, who is taking over for longtime softball skipper, Shadd Clarke who resigned following the end of last season. Farmer also said, "Jeffersonville High School softball has a rich tradition of excellence and I am committed to building on that legacy." Athletics Director, Larry Owens on the hiring of Farmer, "We are excited to retain a coach of Alex's caliber. She not only brings collegiate playing experience but also head coaching experience and when you combine that with her familiarity with the program, the girls and the community, we feel it made for a fantastic hire."
