Red Devil JV Shines at Jennings County – “The Future Is Strong” The Jeffersonville Red Devil JV squad traveled to Jennings County on Saturday and delivered a strong early-season performance, highlighted by five undefeated wrestlers and a long list of athletes showing big improvements on the mat. Jeffersonville had five wrestlers finish 3–0 on the day: Chandler Cooke, Jesse LaJoie, Larry Sherman, Bryce Treat, and Angel Zayas Flores. All five displayed poise, toughness, and the kind of aggressive wrestling that excites the coaching staff about the future of the program. A large group of Red Devils finished with two wins, including Julian Alvarez, Christian Edmondson, Angel Juarez, General McLain, William Ponsford, Shawn Roberts, Michael Rozier, Jesus Ruiz, Ari Nasir Santos-Moore, Cooper Spaulding, and Michael Sunkett. Many in this group are first-year wrestlers who continue to make huge strides each week. Five wrestlers picked up one win—Drayton Broadbent, Jahlil Brown, Bentley Gaines, Dylan Grismer, and Max Holder—while several others battled hard in tough brackets and gained valuable experience as they continue to grow: Jullian Fields, Malachi Howard, Liam Jackson, Andres Juarez, Anson Kern, Jordan Lloyd, Onix Pagan, and Easton Spaulding. Coach Danny Struck was proud of the group's competitiveness, energy, and hunger to improve. “This is one of the strongest JV groups we’ve had in years,” Coach Struck said. “They wrestle hard, they stay after practice, they ask questions, and they want to get better. That’s what builds a future varsity team.” Struck emphasized that the program’s long-term success depends on talented young athletes pushing each other in the room. “People see the varsity results, but this—this JV effort—is the backbone of our program,” he said. “Our young classes are tough. Really tough. And they’re only going to get better.” With strong effort at every level and continued improvement each week, the Red Devils’ future looks bright as the season continues to build momentum.
