Indianapolis, IN – Horizon Christian Boys Varsity Basketball won their 3rd ICSAA State Title in School history Saturday, March 2nd. It as the cap to a remarkable season, the likes of which had not been seen for over a decade at Horizon Christian School. The Lions ended the year 25-8, won their 2nd ICSAA Central Regional in 4 years and defeated the defending State Champion, Pleasant view Christian Bulldogs, 63-47. Coach Posey had this to say about this year’s team “We had a lot of doubters in the beginning of the year and rightfully so when you lose a college level head coach, multiple starters and a few depth pieces, but we knew from the beginning of fall workouts that we still had the talent to bring home a state title. I am so proud of these boys for persevering through the challenges we faced all season from sicknesses to uncharacteristic games, you name it. At the end of the day our goal was to glorify God and to play as a team. It wasn’t perfect, but the way they played in the State Championship game was off of inspiration to play for each other. I am just ecstatic for our seniors.” The Lions, who are losing 5 seniors, will look to the future with a lot of uncertainty but one thing is for certain, they are the 2023-2024 ICSAA State Champions!
