Dear Horizon Christian School Staff, Families and Students.As this school year comes to a close, I want to share that I will be stepping away from my role as Athletic Director after six meaningful years of service at Horizon Christian School.This decision has not come easily. Horizon has been far more than a workplace to me—it has been a place of growth, refinement, and family. I began as a student here from 1st - 10th grade and was able to come back as a young man to rebuild this Athletic Program. Over these past six years, I have had the privilege of serving alongside incredible coaches, administrators, teachers, families, and, most importantly, students. Together, we have celebrated victories, endured challenges, and witnessed firsthand the way God uses athletics to shape character, discipline, and faith. We have seen 4 State Championships, 8 Regional Championships and 15 College Commitments including the school's first ever Division 1 commitment. That, however, is not the best part of being able to be in this role over the years.When I first stepped into this role, I could not have imagined how profoundly it would shape me—not just as a leader, but as a man. My first year, my father died and it crushed every single part of me. I do not know that there was a better place on earth for me to be than right here at Horizon where I have so many people who know me well and love me well.  Horizon gave me room to learn, to make mistakes, to grow in confidence, and to be stretched in ways that ultimately strengthened my faith and my leadership. I will forever be grateful for the trust placed in me and the opportunity to grow into leadership within a Christ-centered community. At this stage of life, however, God is clearly calling me to redirect my time and energy toward my young family. They are in a season that requires more of my presence, my attention, and my heart. While this makes moving on difficult, I move forward with peace, knowing that this decision aligns with the values that Horizon itself has helped instill in me—faith, family, and stewardship.Thank you to everyone who has walked alongside me during this journey. Thank you to the families who have invested heavily into our program, thank you to the alumni who set a standard for our program. Thank you to the staff who supported everything we tried to do and loved the students. Thank you to those who have volunteered their time over the years. Thank you for the prayers, encouragement, patience, and partnership. It has been an honor to serve this school and to be part of what God is doing here. Horizon Christian School will always hold a special place in my heart. Horizon will be conducting a full search for my replacement and I will have a small part in helping with that, but our hope is to use the rest of the year for me to train them before I make my transition at the end of the school year.I look forward to cheering on Horizon Christian Athletics from the stands and watching the continued growth and success of this incredible community.
