Highlands High School

Senior, Rilen Pinkston, took 2nd at the 157 lb weight class—cementing himself in Highlands history as the first ever Highlands state finalist for wrestling. In addition to that, we had 3 other boys wrestlers qualify—seniors Will Gallagher (165 lb weight class) and Zach Russ (190 lb weight class) and junior, Travis Votel (132 lb weight class). Highlands’ boys finished 27th out of 108 teams. At the girls state tournament, we had all 5 of our girl wrestlers qualify—8th grader, Meg Gallagher; senior, Emily Heilman; sophomore, Laila Pinkston; and freshmen, Abby Berling and Emma Hood. Abby and Laila both placed 8th in the state, Emily placed 6th, and Emma placed 5th in their weigh classes. The girls’ team finished 17th out of 72 teams.
