The Raiders faced off against perennial state powerhouse Homestead on Saturday, ultimately dropping a hard-fought match 4-1. Senior Emerson Mohr provided the highlight of the day at No. 2 singles, earning a signature win over last year’s state semifinalist with a composed 6-4, 6-3 victory. At No. 1 singles, sophomore Zan Young battled back in the first set but fell 6-4, 6-2 to a strong opponent. Senior Henry Graham wrapped up singles play at the No. 3 spot, coming up short 6-2, 6-2. The doubles courts showcased closer competition than the final scores indicated, with most games going to deuce. Despite the effort, Homestead’s strength and experience allowed them to secure crucial points and prevail in both matches. Facing one of the state’s top five programs, the Raiders gained valuable experience and take pride in Mohr’s victory, while looking to build on the lessons learned moving forward.
