Hanover-Horton Athletics

Hanover-Horton Varsity Volleyball put together a strong day, finishing as Silver Bracket Runner-Up. The Comets opened pool play by splitting with Grass Lake (20-25, 25-15), Father Gabriel Richard (26-24, 23-25), and Chelsea (20-25, 25-14). After a three-way tie in very competitive pool play, Hanover-Horton earned the top seed in the Silver Bracket. The Comets defeated Waverly 25-20, 25-13 in the semifinal before facing Stevensville Lakeshore in the championship. The Lady Comets won the first set 25-18, dropped the second 19-25, and battled all the way to the end before falling 19-21in the third. Offensively, Hanover-Horton was led by Quinn Knoblauch and Brynn deGlee, who provided consistent dominant production throughout the day. Halee Krage and Collins deGlee led the defensive effort, helping keep the Comets in several tightly contested matches and great scrappy rallies. The Comets showed tremendous fight throughout the tournament, repeatedly responding after difficult sets and competing all the way to the final point of the championship match. The girls play next on Tuesday in a home tri match against Lumen Christi and Concord beginning at 5:00! -Coach Cole
