Josephine Silva & Carston Salgado lose 4-6 Hanover Central loses 1 to 4 over the larger Duneland opponent Valpo on a cold Thursday night. When the sun was out, it felt manageable, but as the sun drifted over the horizon, the cold set in and the idea of playing long rallies went away. For both teams, they wanted the points to end as quickly as they began. Early in the night, Hanover was even with Valpo with the 2 Doubles position consisting of Natalie Eckart & Gabriella Hernandez winning the first set of their match. 3 Singles Jillian Sanders took her match into a tiebreaker in the first set. 2 Singles Carly Campos ended up falling just short losing the first set 4-6. The major bright spot for the Wildcats came at the 2 doubles position where Gabriella Hernandez had some amazing angled volleys at the net. When asking Natalie Eckart what it felt like to beat Valpo her Senior year, she said "it was a good match and felt good to compete!" And compete they both did. Natalie played for the Wildcats basketball team, who made a deep run to the Sectional Championship game this winter. On both the basketball court and the tennis court, you can see her competitiveness thrive. A signature win for this pair as the Wildcats head into conference play Monday 4/14 versus Kankakee Valley at home.
