Varsity vs Belding High School (4-2) Win Varsity vs Belding High School (8-6) Win Game 1 Grant Varsity Tigers Captures Lead Late In Victory Over Belding By GameChanger Media Grant Varsity Tigers beat Belding 4-2 on Friday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at two in the top of the fifth when Owen Chesebro singled, scoring two runs. Grant Varsity Tigers were the first to get on the board in the third when Austin Tyers drew a walk, scoring one run. Belding jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning after Reese Houghton grounded out, and Grant Varsity Tigers committed an error, each scoring one run. Grant Varsity Tigers took the lead, 4-2, in the top of the fifth thanks to singles by Austin Gragg, and Chesebro. Rory Fish earned the win for Grant Varsity Tigers. The starting pitcher surrendered two hits and two runs (one earned) over five innings, striking out eight and walking none. Bo Robinson took the loss for Belding. The hurler went five innings, allowing four runs on four hits, striking out six and walking five. Tyers collected the save. Chesebro drove the middle of the lineup, leading Grant Varsity Tigers with two runs batted in. The left fielder went 1-for-3 on the day. Chesebro, Gragg, Blake Rider, and Kohen Obenauf each collected one hit for Grant Varsity Tigers. Grant Varsity Tigers stole five bases in the game. Dawson Donovon and Martin Holyfield were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected one hit for Belding. Houghton led Belding with one run batted in. Belding were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Troy Sorenson made the most plays with eight. Next up for Grant Varsity Tigers is a game against Belding on Friday. Game 2 Grant Varsity Tigers Secure Win Against Belding By GameChanger Media Grant Varsity Tigers took down Belding 8-6 on Friday. Grant Varsity Tigers got on the board in the top of the first inning after Austin Gragg tripled down the right field line, and Jacob Gates singled up the middle, each scoring one run. A ground out by Kohen Obenauf extended the Grant Varsity Tigers lead to 4-1 in the top of the second inning. Parker grounded out, which helped Belding tie the game at four in the bottom of the third. Grant Varsity Tigers jumped back into the lead in the top of the fourth inning after Gragg singled to center field, Owen Chesebro walked, Blake Rider walked, and Gavin Kiliszewski lined out, each scoring one run. Chesebro earned the win for Grant Varsity Tigers. The righty allowed zero hits and two runs (one earned) over two innings, striking out six and walking one. Reese Houghton took the loss for Belding. The starting pitcher went three and one-third innings, allowing six runs (five earned) on eight hits, striking out three and walking three. Gates started the game for Grant Varsity Tigers. The pitcher allowed two hits and four runs (three earned) over two innings, striking out two and walking six. Gragg provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Grant Varsity Tigers with two runs batted in. The 3-hole hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Gragg and Rider each collected two hits for Grant Varsity Tigers. Austin Tyers paced Grant Varsity Tigers with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying six walks for the game. Gates stole two bases. Grant Varsity Tigers stole six bases in the game. Houghton and #11 were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected one hit for Belding while hitting back-to-back. Parker and #11 each drove in one run for Belding. Houghton led Belding with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, amassing seven walks for the game.
