Jackson Shaltry Commits to Michigan State University for Track and Field

Congratulations to Jackson Shaltry on his commitment to continue his track and field career at Michigan State University following his senior senior at GLHS. Jackson has been a dominant force throwing the shot and discus, playing an important role in the Comets league and regional championships last Spring. Jackson is currently 2nd all time in the discus in Grand Ledge History with a throw of 164 ft 2in "Jackson has worked extremely hard throughout his entire career at Grand Ledge," said Grand Ledge throws coach Rick Whitten. "He throws outside year round no matter what the weather conditions are and that has helped him become one of the best throwers in the state we are proud of him and can't wait to see what he does his senior season and next year as a Spartan." Jackson's accomplishments are impressive: 10th grade year Discus CAAC Blue Champion Regional Champion 10th place at Division 1 State Finals 11th grade Shot Put: 4th place at Regionals 4th place at CAAC Blue meet 5th place at Honor Roll with a personal best of 50 ft 8.5 11th Grade Discus: 2nd place CAAC Blue meet ( All conference) 7th place at MHSAA Regionals ( All Region) 14 place at Division 1 State Finals 4th place at Honor roll Top 15 finish at Nike outdoor Nationals Congratulations Jackson!
