GARLAND, TX — Garland Christian Academy’s varsity volleyball team, the Lady Swords, put up a strong fight on Thursday night but ultimately fell to a well-disciplined Coram Deo Plano squad in straight sets: 25-18, 25-17, and 25-15. Playing on their home court, the Lady Swords showed poise and determination throughout the match. Junior Ella Grace Wood and senior Andee Sandlin led the team with consistent performances, keeping Garland Christian competitive in each set. Defensively, Anayah Mohanan stood out with her quick reactions and solid coverage, helping extend rallies and frustrate Coram Deo’s attack. Head Coach Sarah Johnson praised her team’s effort and composure. “We played well from start to finish,” Johnson said. “Would like to have seen more consistency in the offense, but it was a good game and Coram Deo is a good team. We have played very tough competition this week and are looking forward to the opportunity to see what we can do at the Terrell Tournament this weekend.” The Lady Swords now turn their attention to the Terrell Tournament, a two-day event where they’ll face Rowlett High School, W.T. White High School, and Creekview High School on Day 1. The tournament offers another chance for the team to gain valuable experience and build momentum heading into the heart of the season.
